On Parcoursup, the coherence of the application is as important as the overall average. The most sought-after programs may reject candidates with good grades if the profile does not match the expectations of the pathway. Moving from 13 to 14 or 15 does not require working twice as hard. The potential for improvement often lies in a few targeted adjustments.
Identifying subjects with high coefficients where there is room for improvement is the most profitable lever. Gaining two points in a subject with a coefficient of 8 yields more than gaining four points in a subject with a coefficient of 2. This simple arithmetic is rarely applied by high school students.
Working on recurring errors produces quick results. Systematically reviewing corrected papers, listing types of mistakes (calculation, understanding of instructions, writing), and dedicating one session per week to these weak points can help plug the points leak.

The trap of the overall average as the sole indicator
Focusing on the average sometimes masks imbalances. A 13 made up of a 17 in sports and a 9 in mathematics poses a different problem than a 13 that is consistent across all subjects.
